Sort of similar...I got a text from a 'McTime' which said:

"Mama Smith's night out. Friday. Starting at 8pm Wether's in Walsall. Hope to see you all there "

None of which means anything to me,and there's no McTime in my phone book. Was wondering if McTime stands for something rather than a name...?

How do you do this? Is it possible when bluetooth and wifi are disabled?

As far as I can tell it is a McDonald's staff messaging service. I've been getting them for years and I've never worked for McDonald's, I just assumed that someone who worked for them either accidentally or on purpose (because they didn't want them to have their real number) gave them my number when they worked for them. I haven't quite got round to asking my operator if they can be blocked.

You can look in /home/user/.osso-abook/db/addressbook.db

It is a database file, but the entries are stored in ASCII text, so you can just open it in a text editor/viewer* and scroll through the entries, it lists the time and date of each revision of each contact.

*If you open in using "less" you'll get a warning that it may be a binary file, but you can just ignore the warning and view it anyway.

when you enable for example skype then new contacts appear... have you some other third party service enable?

there is a extended log viewer app in a repo
and also there is a sql lite db viewer app in a repo that may read the sqllite db's

also if you have any remote access software installed then stop it or un-install it...

there is a netstat app available which may help you view your tcp/udp connection... you may also be able to do thid from the x-term and redirect output to a file which you could later transfer to you pc for examination if anyone may be remotely connecting to your device.

also have you tried to boot your phone with some sim card in it?
