Just to clarify: having your connection disconnected, and having DNS problems are 2 completely different issues - so you still need to figure which is your problem

I have installed AutoDiconnect and set it not to close connections when VoIP and IM are active in a hope this will force the connection to stay open.
It's worth a try - but my understanding is that the default N900 behaviour is to keep a connection open until you manually close it, and hence the "need" for AutoDisconnect.

I am experiencing the same problem. Internet connection is live, I am available on gTalk and can browse the web just fine.

Disconneted/reconnected internet connection. gTalk status went to "online" status right away but Skype kept trying for a couple minutes, It indicated an "online" status then changed to "busy".

Rebooting the phone now...gTalk went online right away, Skype trying to connect...indicator switching between "online" and offline"...still trying...damn it, it's still trying. This doesn't look promising...

Skype account availability indicator has been blinking back and forth between "online" and "offline for about 5 min now...I thought it would be a good idea to disable/enable the Skype IM account. For one it didn't correct the issue, and second, my Skype contact shortcuts are gone,,,DOH!!!

Edit: I should have gotten my daily reading dose first. Skype is down. http://lifehacker.com/5716131/skype-...e-hours-to-fix

This is why I love this forum, no matter the question, we get to the answer. Now then, does anyone know when we can expect Skype to be available again?

EDIT: My Skype just started working again. I suppose it heard us talking about it.

People, stop hijacking this thread. Read from the start of the thread and understand that this has nothing to do with Skype's recent outage. Jeez!

IF...you read my posts, you will understand that I came to this thread with NO knowledge that there was a Skype outage. And when I realized it was a Skype issue...I quote myself here "It is not a phone issue. So no more updates from me."

Most likely, people come to this thread because they used the term "N900" in their search. So their intention was not to hijack but to find a solution to a problem they thought was related to the phone.

Facing similar issue on my N900, skype shows as busy and the contacts see me as offline. While others like Gtalk and SIP accounts are fine. Skuyp had been working until two days back.

Looks like from below information that somee versions of skype are affected, is that a reason why skype works on my Android, Win XP pc and not on N900??

"Under normal circumstances, there are a large number of supernodes available. Unfortunately, today, many of them were taken offline by a problem affecting some versions of Skype"
