Guys, he may just not know English. It may be a second or third language for him. Criticize his attitude, i agree. But leave his language skills alone.

I have no problem with him not knowing English, if I thought that was the problem, but it obvious he knows english but chooses to type that stupid texting english instead of bothering to produce actual words.
Anyway as I said - I guess maybe I am just too old to "get it" but I still think it makes him look like a *****.

It's the ultimate frustration of having to limit your own reading speed to decipher what is being said - I also believe that the board is bound by an "English Only" rule as well, but then that opens the debate on how bastardised it can be before deemed "Not English"
In terms of not knowing how to speak English, my argument against that would primarily be that in order to understand and communicate in text speak you would already have to know what structure English originally entailed, thereby allowing you to drop vowels and substitute numbers for entire syllables.
I have no problem with mis-spelling, an exceptionally intelligent colleague of mine has dyslexia and asks me to proof-read high level reporting Emails before he hits the send key, but bastardisation of English to the point where you can openly say "m gng 2 the pub, u cmng m8" is poor form.
In my opinion.
