Is there enough space to store the captured photo?
What shows the image counter (in the lower left corner)?

You can download it from my thread
put it in your home folder
/home/user
unpack the tar file:
tar xf camera-ui2.tar
stop the builtin cam app:
dsmetool -k /usr/bin/camera-ui
start my app:
./camera-ui2
open the lendscover to show the ui
push "c" button on the
keyboard for taking pictures.

Remove fcam-drivers package, reboot then try again.

Code:
apt-get remove fcam-drivers

Download it to /home/user/MyDocs - the default download location.
Then, enter the following into a terminal;

Code:
root
mv /home/user/MyDocs/camera-ui2.tar /home/user
cd /home/user
tar xf camera-ui2.tar
dsmetool -k /usr/bin/camera-ui
./camera-ui2
exit
exit
And press C for capturing an image.
