idk was a really cheap no name card. $20 US for 16g. Tried accessing through recovery software on my pc and it couldnt find the card. It did have a lifetime warranty and was replaced at no charge so I just lost a few pics

I guess you don't know about Backupmenu.

There is a way for SD-cards to go corrupt when you are writing data to them. When that happens (and that is a rare occasion... ) the card will keep waiting forever for a command that doesn't come, because the SD-host wants the card to react to the initialization-commands, which will never come, because the card is waiting...

Pulling the battery on the N900 is like pulling the plug on your desktop computer while it's running.

Exactly; in other words, it's a bad idea in theory, but in practice it's normally no big deal.

Me too (but not the SD card bit). I have since invested in an Otter Box, and there's no way that back cover's coming off now. Plus I'm 20 times more careful with my n900.

half way thru an ota update when you got the errors?

its true generally pulling the plug on a pc is harmless, but doing it while installing an update might cause issues.

the op in the other thread makes it sound like the contacts on the battery/phone werent solid and it was coming disconnected when moved.

i also use 2 batteries and have had no issues when accidentally forgetting to power down before a swap.

Then why don't you explain to users how BACKUPMENU works, then they will know instead of guessing !.
