Just my experience,

I've been using Smartreflex for 3 weeks now with pr.13+CSSU @600Mhz kernel power.

The device is very stable, the speed is ok, and the battery life is much better.
I get about half a day more than before. My N900 is up for 2days and a half on average with resonnable usage.

I get my smartreflex vdd1 and vdd2 enabled and clocked at 250-500mhz starving set to default... So far so good except for mplayer having bad video/audio sync on high resolution video's... But loading a xlv profile plus framedropping enabled made it perfect.

Interestingly, I was playing with SR a few days ago.

It worked for me with 500-805 MHz, but I found when watching a video there would be high-pitched 'squeaks' every 20-30 seconds. I was worried that these squeaks, presumably miscalculations/operations failing due to lack of voltage, would translate into file corruption over time.

I also tried it with another power kernel profile with the same speeds but at higher voltages and there got instant reboots. So if you suffer reboots and want to try, see if you can reduce the voltages in your kernel-power config.

250-900Mhz frequency and ideal voltage profile.

tired using SR many times before, but experimenting again now.

first time ive ever enabled SR and my device has NOT rebooted instantly.. from advice on here ive tailored my kernel config file:

it was based on ideal profile. this has not been extensively tested. use at your own risk.

Code:
MINFREQ=805
MAXFREQ=805
FREQS="0:25,90 805:48,430"
SMARTREFLEX_VDD1=1
SMARTREFLEX_VDD2=1
GOVERNOR=ondemand
IGNORE_NICE_LOAD=1
UP_THRESHOLD=75
SAMPLING_RATE=150000
POWERSAVE_BIAS=0

I have edit the smartreflex under ./kernel/, after saved, no reboot. Then reload the profile again, nth happen. But if I whole reboot the n900, the smartreflex inside the profile become back to 0...
why??

That's the problem... You should use 805 as max speed

make your kernel, then in xterm as root:

kernel-config load *kernelname*
kernel-config default *kernelname*

I edited the starving in kernel-power-setting folder, running no problem, no instant reboot. However, when i enable the smartreflex under qcpufreq, reboot instantly..whats the difference??

I remember reading vdd2 is what makes devices unstable in the most cases.... maybe you can start with vdd1-only, like the setting in QCPUFreq does.

My phone didn't reboot when I turned SR vdd1 on, but it lost SIM card after switching to tablet mode or sometimes under heavy load. So I never bother to turn it on again. Everyone's mileage varies...
