i installed kubuntu mobile 11.10 on my n900, following the instruction of ianlawrence, the os runs but:
- the mobile plasma not runniing
- no modem adapter (wlan-gsm)

Are you using the omap3 drivers? Also, either use the ones from Maemo's /lib/modules/2.6.* folder or scrounge around MeeGo.
Plasma Mobile looks hawt, wonder how much better it got since 2010.
Next stop: Running GNOME 3 on the N900 (why not? it does NOT look like it was built for desktops, the task switcher and app menu can be accessed by tapping top-left *ahem*likeMaemo5*ahem* and it's got multiple desktops.)
My meego build works great. I dont think meego is a good os, but the phone works very well.
