I've never owned an N900 and I'm not having any problems.

well i've had my charging port break off, so i suggest do what ever it takes to prevent that from happening... then again if does happen it is very simple and cheap to fix

But I had mine for just... like 7 months in total - give or take, I didn't really use it much in the end.

Good luck with all of it man. You'll find the N900 to be a decent phone, pretty capable actually.

Hmmm. Why do you have to buy a Mugen battery? It's not even the best battery to buy.

What's wrong with the latest version of Opera you get in the usual repositories?
Just enable extras, extras-testing, and extras-devel and install. Then disable extras-testing and extras-devel if you want to be cautious.

bought now 'cause the price on ebay was quite decent for a never touched device and my LG shine is starting to give issues and I thought if I'm gonna spend on a phone I might as well do the 900. on ATT so it's 2.5 g for me but that's not too much of a big deal as I dealt with that when I was in London and it wasn't so bad. We shall see. Gotta get NAVIT up and running though.
Some pro-tips:

1. Buy a SCUD blue Battery. Read this first post. It was written by internet super hero dr_frost_dk. The battery has ~20% more than the standard battery and only costs like £4. There are also instructions on how to make a 'DIY' Mugen battery with 1/3 more juice for 1/4 of the cost.

2. Install backupmenu, Power kernel 47, fapman (faster application manager), shortcutd, rootsh, sudser and CSSU first.

3. Depending on how brave you are, actually glue the USB plug to the PCB. i.e. Open the phone up, take the PCB out and put some glue around it (be careful not to get glue inside the plug)

4. To install opera, enable development repositories.

5. BUT MOST OF ALL!!! have fun!

It lets you not worry about the USB socket coming out.
