I just wanted to report that this info worked great for me with a N810 and Samsung SGH-D807 phone.

I tried to get tethering to work for MANY hours on a RIM Blackberry Curve 8310 with 4.2.2 software and it just wouldn't work. Connection failed no matter what settings I tried. After much research/googling, I learned that the Blackberry has a hard time with tethering on tablets, and there's hope that this will be fixed with the Blackberry v4.3 software.

So, I gave up on the BB and got the Samsung, and it worked without any fuss. Very very satisfied.
