don't know if this will help, but have you tried installing from:
http://labs.opera.com/downloads/

scroll down to "Opera Mobile 10 for Nokia N900 and N800/N810"

clicking on that link should open app manager, and hopefully work.
good luck

Unfortunately, the link at labs.opera.com downloads a 1k file, then the dialog box saying 'downloading 5k' comes up, then just sits there for a while. Then I get a message saying:

'source lists have partially updated, proceed anyway?'

Then when I click yes I get an error message saying:

'Unable to download opera mobile.
Application package not found'

The biggest file in
http://deb.opera.com/maemo/dists/dia.../binary-armel/
is only 2.5k in size and contains a list of the dependencies etc.

i just checked the application manager and it seems to be going to the chinook directories at opera. My ROM version is 2.2007.51-3

Is this the problem? Am I running Chinook rather than Diablo??

OK, it looks like I've been stupid and not updated the ROM before twiddling. Apologies to all for wasting time.

http://europe.nokia.com/support/prod...oftware-update

has done the trick. I've installed the latest ROM and successfully installed Opera 11 - very nice too.

Thanks everyone - more dumb noob wild goose chases and questions soon.
