Maemo is being officialy maintained by ScummVM, I've already repported the the keyboard and volume keys issues on the N900:
http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=11077
tsoliman already made a fix for the keyboard problem and I applied a patch for the volume keys from version 1.3.1. I've also added a shotcut for the in-game menu:
ctl+volume+
Here is the debian package I build with those fixes:

(I couldn't wait to plan Lands of Lore on my n900)

Thanks again!
Edit: Maybe you can add the option to enable and disable swipe...
(So that when you're in the options menu, you can swipe ScummVM to the background...)
Kinda annoying when you play a point and click game with swipe enabled
Edit 2:
And a way to save a game
The N900 makes use of the volume buttons to go to the menu.
It's perfect on the N900, I hope I can enjoy ScummVM on the Harmattan aswell!
