Thanks admiral0!

I hope LP Magic 2 works out well, I'm enjoying it on my N9. Any idea when 2 may be finished?

I will donate again once you're able to start on the SMS project.

Regards, John

It's a lazy mans way of sending a quick text, whilst you have your feet up and laptop on. There are plenty of apps for Android that do this (and the N900), usually through an USB connection and an ip address, from memory.

I know we have Netview, and even Nokia/Ovi suite worked for this until PR1.2. But is a inspired developer could write an app for this, I would buy/donate.

Any takers?
no all-in-one SMS manager exists at this time, but in the meantime:

a beautiful sms backup/restorer is available here:
https://github.com/wwwjfy/meegoSMSBackupRestore

it backs up sms to a text file, which you can copy securely over ssh to your computer and vice-versa, and restores from the same text file.

the format is human-readable, so you can open it up in, er, notepad or whatever, and read your texts, manipulate them with scripts, fix typos, remove sensitive data, etc, and then restore it back.

send/recieve {an unrelated task better kept separate, in my opinion, but i understand your desire to have all-in-one-machines} is not included in it, and wont be.

so far, it is command-line only, and requires you to have a nominal, working grasp of linux. a fool-proof ui is in the works, according to his todo.
