What else is stored in that DB? can it be saved and then added to the re-flashed N9 to bring old contacts back?

do someone know where the text messages are? or where calendar items and notes are stored? thanks a lot. (need to save it from locked N9 which filesystems I have now mounted on a PC)

All of those are stored in the same tracker DB's.

As far as i understand, it works this way:

Messages & Contacts & i assume everything else has their own databases, tracker only collects data from them.

The problems:
When you reset tracker, the original databses are reset too.
Noone (of us) knows, where the "real databases" are and they are probably closed source.

You are propably wrong here, It is of course possible that there are "real" databases somewhere but chances for that are fairly slim. I have searched the device for that kind of data quite thoroughly and tracker DB's are the only thing I have found.

You are propably thinking of this sentence;
"- Tracker is an indexer that doesn't touch your data in any way except for reading it and allowing other programs to read it; the team behind it have worked real hard on making it as power efficient."

That refers to the way tracker indexes images, sounds and movies on the device.

However, as far as I can tell, when you receive a SMS message, the message is stored in tracker DB only, there does not exist any other private storage for messages.

There is one difference, however. For MMS messages, the active content, being sound/picture/video is extracted from the message and stored on a directory in the device FS. The text content of the MMS is still stored only in tracker.

Saving of all partitions; mmcblk0p1, mmcblk0p2 and mmcblk0p3, (and mmcblk0p4 if you have nemo...) will make the device exactly identical to what it was after a complete wipe&flash.

I have done that numerous times.

i do not need whole partitions, just contacts, notes, messages, MMS, calendar...

BTW, MMS text is not in tracker, but with MMS files in FS.

No, i'm thinking of this sentence:
messaging-ui has its own database not related to tracker
... and i assume, same goes for contacts and other stuff...

Edit: to save contacts, notes, calendar, the easiest way is to sync with nokia suite.
For messages you can use N9Qtweaks / messages-export/import

Edit2: i also searched my device for the "real" database, but could not find it, so i guess i don't have access to that files / folders or / and it's somehow encrypted.

I may have been wrong; when I had the conversation what I got from them was that those who coded messaging-ui had not done a too good job on it. Messaging-ui was maintaining its own database which was the same as what tracker was maintaining but due to messaging-ui using its own db the mis-match was occurring.

Hence, reading from meta.db you can see no mis-match. It could be I didn't understand them correctly and that they meant that the interpretation done by messaging-ui from meta.db is not very good or it means there really is another db; I'm sorry for the confusion.

Maybe someone can contact pvanhoof on #tracker at gimpnet and clarify it?

There is at least one thing that suggest that there is only just the tracker DB used. Consider the fact that when Tracker DB's are wiped, if there really was a "behind the scenes real DB" used, why on earth would it get wiped on a "tracker-control -r", would not tracker build it back up after restart like it does on other data... After all, images and movies do not get wiped on tracker reset
