I don't have time to search right now & most prolly won't be back in this thread.

It's ok, I have no problem looking for it. It's just that I thought by now someone'd have figured out how to solve this

Hi,

Can anyone help. I downloaded pinball fantasies from N9 fanclub. To see if it was any good. Decided I didn't want it on my phone but it wont delete. Once delete it turns into a download type icon and if you try to delete this it says "Can't delete - Application does not exist". If I reinstall the download icon gets replaced with the app I can then go to the manage apps and uninstall but if you restart the phone the download icon comes back again!

I also deleted the Taxi app with the same outcome. If i reinstall its fine i just can not delete.

Any help please? or is this a PR 1.2 issue?

tried that! If i delete there it goes but when you restart the download icon is there and this is not visible in the settings menus.

To get rid of the download icon you have to reinstall the app, then as above! it just goes round in circles!

This issue has existed in this form (or very similar) for ages now.
IIRC it was supposedly fixed. There's a ticket in the bug-tracker...
Maybe it needs to be reopened & given feedback from users like yourself.

have you tried the manual way? on my n900 when i'ved cases like yours
i'm doing steps as follows:
1. locate the installer file
2. extract the files. deb or. rpm using 7zip
3. will appear file with extension. tar
4. extract file. tar using 7zip again and you will get some folders.

you just search for related files in that folder in your mobile phone. and manually delete them.

I'm not particularly good with these things but will have a go at this n900 method. I now have three of these files. Any other suggestion

Is there an actual location i can look in, this is happening everytime now! never use to. can not recall if i have uninstalled anything since pr 1.2

update: uninstalled burn the city, which was installed before the pr1.2 update and this was removed normaly

^Found the bug report yet?
They need to know it's still an issue, & they may want to gather some info from you.
They'll prolly help you with a more elegant workaround in the meantime.
Once fixed no-one will have resort to this "manual fix" anymore.
