It's on the public mailing list - too late for "not to publish it" thing if you ask me.

Surely, in the current situation Qt has no place within Nokia - it'd be only stagnating there under constant shadow of MS. But let's see who will pour resource in Qt from now on.

MS can't stand cross platform technologies in WP, since WP serves as an examplary Micrsofot lock-in. That's why you'll never see Qt or OpenGL there. WP is a total dead end.

This was no surprise, was it? At least the situation became clear now and we know for sure that Nokia has no further use for Qt.
It's a sad day for those being employed by Nokia to work on Qt, but it's the best thing that could currently happen to Qt. To finally get out of Nokia's lethal grip. Qt will certainly have a future, while Nokia will have none.

Any thoughts?
Since when was this a NEWS? Will people here NEVER wakeup!?

Btw WHY do people ever CARE what Nokia is doing?

I am sure Qt will survive without Nokia:

If people here really care bout Qt:

contribute
send bugreports
test Qt 5

but STOP cry about Nokia. We already knows this! Its NOT a news!

I am also sure those fired engineers at Nokia will start new cool companys so for **** sake stop cry about Nokia!

Nope I dont beleive RIM will buy Qt! If RIM buys QT it not good. Because RIM is as crisis as Nokia.

however Qt will survive but as already said: development will be slow down for short run.

It is just boilerplate corporate e-mail signatures. The best is when there is an MS Outlook top-posting bonanza thread with about 1100 of those signatures at the bottom.

I didn't say that RIM buying Qt assets would be good (since RIM is in crisis). I said it's a possible scenario of what can happen (after all it's Nokia deciding to whom to sell and etc.).

Getting out from Nokia's grip is all fine, except that with less financial backing it can simply slow down Qt development for other reasons (lack of resources). For projects like LibreOffice getting out of Sun/Oracle's grip was indeed beneficial, but LibreOffice had good developers backing. Let's hope Qt will have it too.

There are many with developer interests in Qt. Take e.g. RIM, HP, Intel (Tizen IVI uses Qt heavily), KADB, Digia, ICS, Jolla, the KDE project, Plasma Active, etc.
