You could have both repository ; apt is smart : it gets only the more recent one !
For now Cobb has compiled the last gpe, see instructions for repo :
http://www.cobb.uk.net/770/

But I have a problem upgrading gpe-calendar & gpe-contacts : there is a package dependancy error (libgpevtype0). gpe-todo/filemanager/timesheet are OK.
same problem here. If anyone got a solution (I tried uninstalling old version, but doesn't work either.)

What I have done is this:
Uninstalled all the 2.7 GPE apps – no loss of data observed
From here
http://linuxtogo.org/~florian/maemo/index.html
Installed all of the Stable Maemo 3.0 (Bora) compatible applications from cobb.uk.net
Installed all of the Stable Maemo 3.0 (Bora) compatible repositories

Application Manager/Check for updates
Update all of the files

The only snag I have hit is that GPE Summary doesn’t seem to want to launch

It's best to remove all packages related to GPE in the app manager before installing the new one. You won't lose your configuration and data (which you can back up first anyway, it's in /home/user/.gpe).

I just upgraded to 2.8 this way and all went well.

Nothing to add to fpp post - here I've done the same end everything works.
Remove ALL packages GPE-related (i.e. a long list of libgpe_something and other libs - don't remember the whole list) and then re-install by using the single-click install that also automatically adds the cobb's repository.
No data loss - I backupped /home/user/.gpe/* for the sake of safety, but it hadn't been needed.

OK, I followed the same instructions and mine did not work. I have only tried calendar and it gets half way through (ie, the slider is halfway through on the install dialog) and then stops and says unable to install. Does this require the latest firmware, or other repositories other then the two on the install page?

I choosed the single click install from here:
http://linuxtogo.org/~florian/maemo/index.html
section
Stable Maemo 3.0 (Bora) compatible applications

end everything went fine after deinstalling old version of GPE I had on my machine. Again, everything must be removed, some libraries (something like libpimc and libmimedir especially, I go by memory, I think those are the packages conflicting with the new installation)
Last firmware here, don't know if it matters.

Maybe I am the only one without a problem with the new install. Everything went fine and no problems. Just went and clicked update and updated all my installed programs.

Bummer, I guess I am the only one that can't get this going. I will try again pulling off the libraries and try again. I would be interested in seeing what other repositories you folks have that had success with the install.

Worked for me... But I had to uninstall EVERY SINGLE lib manually !

Doing juste fine now.

But I still have a weird problem. The application doesn't shut when I click on the cross top-right. I have to go thru the menu and select "close", otherwise, it just gets minimized in the taskbar.

Not a real problem as I would call it, but I wonder why it does it...

It's not a problem, it was the same for the calendar in previous versions, it's like msn ! I understand that it is not logical...

By uninstalling some gpe libs I still have another problem : all the packages begin to install, but crash at the end of each install. The apps seems functionnal but in the app manager it said 'corrompted apps'...

I'll try to uninstall ALL gpe libs related...
