OK. So I have the right version. Really 2 classes of things it does wrong:

a) It sometimes doesn't repeat notify --- seems somewhat random... haven't got more useful things to say here.

b) It resets the "tone" to the default for at least ring tones and SMS tones. Very unuseful ... and the default tones are rather quiet.

Actually... another thing it seems to screw up is the alarm --- again I have a custom mp3 chosen --- which plays in the part of the alarm app that chooses it, but doesn't play when the alarm sounds (the default sound is played).

If it is unreproducable and even more you cannot give details how/when this 'bug' appears, there is no chance. Nevertheless please post in announce thread.

Are you on CSSU?
With the latest version of CSSU this problem arised. Nothing to do with callnotify.

Both symptoms never showed up on my device.

Is there any way I might get the source code so I don't have to start from zero to fix this? I really need this to work.

I've been a bit busy --- but I sit down to look at this tonight and I can't reach maemo.org --- ie: those urls.

Pali is the maintainer, I'd ask on the callnotify thread.
