While tethered though, I was able to utilize the PDANET software and get an internet connection between my computer and q9m. I noticed that PDANET installs a modem driver during it's install to establish the connection.

For the 770/q9m connection, how does the 770 see the q9m as a modem similar to how pdanet does? There is an icon on the q9m under accessories called "modem link" and according to the verizon site, this must be set to ACTIVE in order to establish a connection. So before anyone asks, "yes", I have attempted this several different ways.

prk60091 > I truly appreciate the links to those sites but I have read through so much of it that my mind is mush. I cannot find anything specific that tells me how to get past this issue. Would you mind helping me find exactly what it is that I am looking for in order to get this done... again, thank you.

welcom > Again, great reading. The only issue for my situation is that it is very specific that this hack does not apply to WM6 smartphones. I am anxiously awaiting their next update.

my hats off to all of you that take that time to help people like me looking to keep our "electronic leashes" nice and tight.

thanks,

According to this, http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/n/8271.html, go to the bottom of the page, laptop...., the Q should be able to function as a DUN modem. I am not sure why pdanet has to install one though. Well, you are one step closer, as pdanet able to make it work, that tells, your acct, password, data line subscription is correct. Now, it is the connection with the 770. Several things you can try,

1) pair the Q with any mobile operator, i.e., not Verizon, just pick a generic phone during the pairing. Some people reported sucess.
2) try either packet data or data, it has something to do with your subscription. If you use the wrong one, you would get a momentary connection, err mess "cannot authenticate subscription". And look up the setting in padnet and see what setting is being used.
3) try post a question to NNTP newsgroup, microsoft.public.pocketpc
4) As I point out in last post, try to turn off the phone after activate modem link, see whether the 770 can wake up the phone.
5) I also remember that you should NOT use the BT icon from CTRL panel, instead, you should paired the phone using add a phone w BT. I have problem initially when pair the treo with the BT icon from the CTRL panel.

Hope some of this will work, it is frustrating, but the reward is very sweet
