I never followed this community. Always had Symbian phones before. That is to say I can't be considered a fanboy.

I decided to buy N9 even if ita wasn't released in my country, even if it was clearly a dead end, even if it was a bit expensive, because a I totally feel in love with the swipe ui. I find it the most compelling user interface I ever used, and would not go back for anything in the universe.

And now I quietly exit this discussion just like I got in. Have fun.

@specc
You may be too jerky to swipe, but that doesn't mean that the swipe UI is bad in general.
IMHO it's the most natural way to switch applications. It makes sense for multitasking.

I can agree with that. It is amazing and unique in the same way a cab is amazing and unique. It is nice for show and very sexy. However, amazing and unique just don't cut it when it starts raining or snowing or the sun is shining straight on your head in mid July. Then you need something more practical like a customizable homescreen.

Very few will honestly recommend Swipe because it is not practical.
It's bizarre that among all the reasons you could cite for why the N8's better* you raise that.
Kinda supports my suspicion that you have no idea what you're talking about.

*and there's many.

In what way is it not customizable enough for you?
You are aware there's solutions for that right...
Oh that's right, you haven't looked because you were never genuinely interested.
Still waiting on that list of things that highlights why Maemo6x is inferior to WP for your usage.

It's interesting looking at the tone of all your posts.
It's clear that you've joined purely to troll...
It's ironic that you're a strong supporter of Symbian, yet have more disdain for Maemo than WP.
I've no doubt you're not able to get your head around that one.

Swipe has totally mesmerized me... gone into my veins, and now I find myself swiping my iPad, iPhone & my son's PSP [LOL, tried that one day on my TV too!] until the reality sets in... the N9 grows into u, indeed! It was love @ first sight - and I continue to love it.

Qorax
Ps.: U call me a N9 fanboy - and I proudly state, "Yes, I am".

N9 fan, yes. Fanboy, no. Fanboy as a maniac/negative flavour to it that I strongly refuse to accept being put on me.

I have never said the N8 is better than the N9. What I have said is that the N8 is more popular and more of a flagship than the N9. Myself, I don't care either way, I have both.

Swipe is nice and sexy, I do mean that, but Belle is better. Belle is extremely good, easy to use and easy to configure, and it is much faster for everyday use because it's more configurable.

The point I am making is that for the N9 to be a flagship, the Swipe UI has to be tossed. Nice and sexy - yes, practical - no. I also find myself "swiping" the N8, but other times I want to throw my N9 in the wall because I can't find the app I want in a list that only gets longer and longer. Folders will help, but they are no substitute for freely configurable homescreens.

I really do not understand your problem. You obviously would like the N9 to be popular, yet you react negative to everything that would make it more popular. You would like it to be a flagship device, yet you will not change anything on it so it eventually could be a flagship device.

What can I say? Good luck changing the world and (almost) everyone in it

facts: Google searches <=> sale numbers

with that kind of logic you better stick to a m$ device indeed ¦-)

Fixed that for you.....
Oh yes you have, everyone can see that looking at your prior posts.
If that's not a non-answer I don't know what is...
Not a single decent comparative analysis about features, UX, or apps, to be found.
