I have Python Launcher installed which preloads the GTK at bootup or the first python app. It may be speeding things up for me.

For the power applet - it may be doing the first "how much disk space is used/available" and sometimes that will take a while the first time. There may be other things going on (metalayer-crawler, connectivity, etc.) which may vary.

That's the boot time that I'd like to speed up, so if there's some preload at this time, it won't be faster (it the boot time is so slow, I suppose the tablet is already rather busy).

I hoped it would do it on demand or when the CPU is idle! I also noticed that a first df was slow to get the result for my 8-GB SD card.

I had noticed that metalayer-crawler was taking much CPU time after the boot. I disabled it, with no differences concerning the full boot time. Connectivity hasn't changed and shouldn't take time anyway, since no connections are allowed by default on my N810.

Install went fine with ver 0.3.4. But when I try and view OS Version using the statusbar applet it shows this error:

cat: Cant open'/etc/ooso_software_version':No such file or directory.

I'm running the latest diablo SSU on my N800. I'm not sure if its something I did to get this error. Any ideas??

This is because the file is called "/etc/osso_software_version".

Busybox's cat knows grammar so I presume that was a mistake in typing the error message. But anyway, that file is provided by osso-software-version-<whatever> so doing what I said should work.

Mhm... after I installed the applet and re-booted, my N800 no longer shows the connection status and I cannot re-enable it from the system settings. It's disabled there.

Any ideas why this happened and - more important - how to get it back?

EDIT
qwerty12 helped - again. No idea why this happens, but it's nice to know I can always fix it.

I have been using this for a while now. Love it, thanks.

It doesn't seem to save the settings between reboots. Any reason or idea how to fix?

Strange. But
Code:
chmod -R 777 /var/lib/gconf/apps/advanced-power
should help.
