I have Python Launcher installed which preloads the GTK at bootup or the first python app. It may be speeding things up for me.
For the power applet - it may be doing the first "how much disk space is used/available" and sometimes that will take a while the first time.

I have been using this for a while now. Love it, thanks.
It doesn't seem to save the settings between reboots. Any reason or idea how to fix?
chmod -R 777 /var/lib/gconf/apps/advanced-power
For the power applet - it may be doing the first "how much disk space is used/available" and sometimes that will take a while the first time. There may be other things going on (metalayer-crawler, connectivity, etc.) which may vary.
