I interviewed with MetroPCS a few months ago, and came away impressed with their goals and business model. They are well-positioned for a customer base with less liquid cash than a year ago.

Out of all current large providers, they have captured the highest growing percentage of customers as the economy declined. T-mobile is smart enough to analyze why and try to catch some of the Verizon/AT&T fallout.

Go T-Mobile!

Don't know T-Mobile's reception? get a prepaid one for $19 dllrs plus tax and try it out, $13 with cashback http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/...8-5b7967c2c039 sell it after or trade your Unlocked with a friend for a week to test reception.
T-Mobile has two different coverage as every other major carrier does, and on prepaid you get less coverage than on the regular plan. Lets say you don't get coverage at certain part of the town on your prepaid phone you sure will get the coverage on your monthly plan phone.
so if you are going to test their reception based on prepaid keep this in mind.

I didn't know that, then the move to T-Mobile fro ATT won't be a problem, I had the bad idea that it had sluggish reception because a coworkerhas a contract on the candybar Nokia non 3G i think and her reception sux at work =(, can data and voice be used in Tmo?

Yes data and voice can be used on TMobile. I think even on the pre-paid network too. The reason why they want you to pay after and not in front in case you incur any roaming charges. If you prepay then they can't get you to pay roaming charges if you do roam (thus their solution of just not giving you service if your out of the network area).

But if your paying monthly (or once you get your bill) then they let you roam if you want to since they know they can get you to pay it.

Reception of Tmobile is not as great indoors as it is out door because they use higher MHZ thats 1900 most of the time and higher the MHZ its hard for the signal to penetrate inside building. And it also depends on the city, state where T-Mobile has a roaming contract with AT&T. Almost about 9 months ago T-Mobile still had a contract with Amerilink PCS and they dropped that due to which in rural area their service started to drop.
As you told that your co-workers service on your work zone sucks then you already know that you are not going to get any different coverage than them.
But let me tell you if your co-worker has Flex pay plan their coverage will be different than the regular 2yr contract coverage, which you get by signing a 2 yr contract with your approval credit.
I dont really understand what you mean by can you use data and voice.
Well when you sign up for the service you can choose between various types of minute plan and you can add unlimited web and messages for 34.99 for a smartphone and if you only need web it will be 24.99 for smartphone.

The big issue for much of the US is T-mobiles very limited coverage area. I would prefer an announcement of increased coverage area to lower prices.

Well they are also planning on building out their network (building up and building out).

Has anyone gone back to see what Project Dark is?

I'm hoping its a fully subsidized 900 and insane coverages increases, along with cheaper plans.

I think the plan is to offer European style packages ie pay less if you bring your own phone or get a reduction at the end of your contract.

Word is that they will have a load of cheap all in one plans and you subsidise your phone through a 20 month loan system, which in reality means little change from before other than that the costs are more transparent now.

Doubtful this is the 1st place you're hearing about this at, but *just in case* I have a few links from the Boy Genius Report:

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/...nanced-phones/

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/...plans-flexpay/

Looks like unlimited talk is $40
Talk and text is $50
And talk, text and the oh so wonderful 3G data is $60

It looks like all of that is modular so if you want unlimited talk and data, but not text it should be possible, but there's no info on a price for that right now.

And if you don't want to pay for all of your phone upfront, but hate 2 year contracts? Looks like there will be some plans for that as well.

All in all, I'd say rumor confirmed, even if it changed a bit from what we thought.
