Did you reboot? if yes you should get black wallpaper in portrait mode and [normal] wallpaper in landscape...

please check, if you had done it right...

Alternately check it by setting two different wallpapers in portrait as well as in landscape.

Or you can install package gconf-editor, under tools.

I think I'm done with the stage 1. As stage 2 will have to be manual, the 2 things are left: I need to know all the qbw widget names to include 'em as depends and I'll need to check whether anything of stage 6 can be automated (at least portret wallpaper will be possible to be added)

Is there a user-friendly way to ask the user to choose (for example about portrait wallpapers) during the postinst script

yes, I've done it exactly like you said, I did a reboot, then get a black background as a portrait position, then I set the wallpaper, but the result is still like yesterday, oh, I was desperate,,

I'll add enabling the portrait wallpaper in the postinst script and disabling this with postrm.

@transtech: please create some nice icon for the application manager

@transtech: has the ORIGINALS folder in extra wallpapers to be preserved?

1. Ok, here you go..

2. yes, ORIGINALS folder need not be added to extras-repos, but extra-wallpapers folder [excluding originals] can be uploaded in a separate package [something like maemeemo-extra-wallpapers].
Thanks

Edit: Please check if the icon works well, or else I will make it again...
p.s. I think you need to resize it.

OK, I'm making the maemeemo-wallpapers-extra package without ORIGINALS
Should I use the same icon?

@transtech: please create a bugtracker, here explained: http://wiki.maemo.org/Bugs:Adding_Extra_products
Or alternatively I can add you email address as a bugtracker
