Hah, that maybe true.... if it ever comes out... and you wonder why Nokia is losing market share in the smartphone segment.

The HTC announcement was similar. I bet you won't find thousands of posts on forums related to those products with people saying "Oh I just rang up Newegg and they said [X] but Amazon said [Y]" and "Damn my order date got moved back again".

They just announced when it would be and hit the date, no problems at all.

No, it's because nokia have totally F**KED it when it come to promoting the device (so far)... maybe they are just waiting for the device to actually become available before they run any large scale marketing campaigns who knows. But when I worked at the CPW we had LG, BB, Samsung etc reps who used to come round all the time with promotional material and to fill us in on all the latest happening at their company. Obviously Nokia has failed to do this. You can’t really blame the guys in the phone shop because unless they sit at home on forums like this they wouldn’t have a clue.

Phones 4 U didn't know anything about it. The guy in the Virgin shop who was a "huge nokia fan" had not even heard of the phone! I never bothered going into 3 cause they have some 3G problems or something. And Orange said they were not stocking it. Not looking good in the UK, will MPD be the only place I can get the N900?
Does the N900 really exist or it is a mythe?

yes"

the nokia site says "exclusivity by end of november"

we will have them by the end, which is the 30th, we have hundreds and hundreds of preorders which will be shipped from when we get them"
probably should go into one of the existing threads this ...but yes, I had a similar online conversation with them as well. They were definitely suggesting that we could be into December before the handset ships...what a shambles and a PR disaster this has been for Nokia and MPD. I certainly won't use them again after all this nonsense.

I received this reply from MPD when i emailed them asking, WHERE'S MY N900!

"Dear Customer,

If you do not know already, the N900 has been pushed back again. The latest information from Nokia, is that the handsets have started shipping from Finland and should be on the market (in our possession) for the last week of November.

There have been no dates given. As soon as there is concrete and definite ETA’s then the website will be updated as soon as we know – please refrain from emailing us – the website will have this information on it before our emailing and customer services representatives know.

The large number of orders has also lead to a large number of phone calls and emails – this flux is difficult to deal with especially when we need to give you, the customer, the best service possible. This is one of our efforts just to let you know the status of your order and also to try and make things a little easier for us.

Those of you who have applied for the N900 and have not heard from us need to:

· Use our online tracker to find the status of your order.
· If your status is ‘pending stock’, this literally means we are waiting for the stock, however your application for contract or PAYG has been approved and your order will be filled when the stock is here and ready to be despatched.

Should you need to contact us, please try out our new online chat system where you can ask immediate questions – all the information on the N900 is above.

Many thanks for those who have been patient with us – it is much appreciated – we are looking forward to despatching your order as soon as possible.

Kindest Regards, and for what it is worth an apology if you have found it difficult to get through to us, trust us, we are as anxious as you to send out these phones.

The Web Dept."

UK users, should we spam BBC Watchdog about this issue? How customers are badly treated by Nokia?

If they get involved, things would be so much different.

They started to get involved with the N97 issues (GPS + scratched camera glass) and now Nokia is given free backplate replacement for all N97s

Well I just sent mine. Get in! http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory

In Canada where there is no N900 you can put 1 on 10,000
