I think people are creating a lot of something out of nothing. Peter said that when they are ready to ship, they would publish that the product is ready to ship. This should tell us that it is NOT READY to ship, or, we would know about it. So, any projected date beyond 24 hours is bullcrap.

This tells us that we will know when the sales reps know. Anyone telling us other than an official publication by Nokia is talking out of the wrong exit.

Could it be that the n900 is ready but that there aren't enough to fill all the pre-orders? That Nokia doesn't want to disappoint anybody.

I don't understand why we've never heard anything about a s/w bug from prerelease models that was serious enough to delay the phone's release (and possibly risk a bunch of holiday sales). If there were software problems that were not CATASTROPHIC they could just be pushed out via a normal software update.

I'm hoping they fixed a hardware issue or two (both issues I'm hoping they address have been discussed enough to not stir up in this thread).

Does this logic make any sense to you guys?

My guess is Nokia will ship as pallets are filled. They would want to get channels moving with product ASAP.

We have not seen nothing yet. Wait until the units start shipping. It will make this thread seem like a tiny thread

Hi guys. Just registered. got fed up off reading all 205 pages without joining in. I too have the N900 on order. Went into Nokia retail this weekend to pre order and they had a working one that had just arrived to play on. Ordered mine through MPD as the shop couldn't match the tarriff. Only a week to go I reckon.

Sorry that was Banbury UK

This is shure - as the 9th. And the 25th too (according to german Nokia site).
As long as they've got our orders they can delay the release as long as they like, and they will do. At least until Xmas. They know that we want the phomputer anyway. If more and more of us would cancel their order, this would be a signal that Nokia might loose fans if they won't hurry. But some of us think tey can have their baby a few days earlier if they hold their order. They think it for weeks already, haven't learnt anything.
This thread is best marketing for Nokia, why shouln't they heat it up by further and further delays?

I think it's very likely that the delay is for usability enhancements rather than a critical bug. You only get one chance to make a first impression and this is the Maemo team's one and only chance to make one on the smartphone market.

Companies think in terms of quarters. Moving a product from early Q4 to mid Q4 is not really a delay to them.
