Hi,
Since last week my N900 is not charging with the wall charger, nor with the external battery that Nokia shipped with my phone (Spain), but it does charge when connecting it to my PC.
The USB port of the phone seems loose, but I can't understand why the phone charges when connected to the computer and not when connected to the charger. So, I'm not 100% sure it is broken. Maybe it is a software problem. I don't know.
What do you think?
I guess I should call Nokia support.

My USB port came out with my cable in January as has happened to so many others...
I understand that as the device was purchased in the EU I have a 24 month warranty, I have clearly had the open and the board removed...
I was looking at performing the cable fix myself as I erroneously thought I only had a 12 month warranty and had a terrible experience previously with my Nokia Care Centre and trying to get my N900 fixed for another problem.
So, I have removed the shield for the part of the board by the camera and USB port to get a look at the connections, I have also damaged the keyboard bezel when handling it. Neither of these affect the usage of the device...
My question is, will it affect my warranty as far as having the USB port replaced...I have look but not touched so to speak? What do you guys think?

I still see no evidence that filing the springs makes any difference.
I don't think it makes much difference to the perp. forces between socket and mainboard on normal insertion/removal.
