The OP has no link to the original thread and my search is being flood with this thread. I am still searching for the OP.........very upsetting.

I stumbled for 30 min, looked into control panel, xterm, and stood up, and walked around 15 times, and went to bath room, still have no squat idea how to start this thing called telescope. Here I am, how do you use it? Yes, I installed it without problem, and checked AppMan it was installed and rebooted, nothing. I read thru this thread and read every single post of Mitrandir and decided it is time to go sleep

Yes, sorry, i forgot to post announcement here.

Telescope 0.2.8
  • Huge source code refactoring. I think around 40-60% of source code was refactored in order to improve internal logic of the application, eliminate potential bugs and make it more easy to bring enhancements in future
  • It's now possible to move selection with joystick if you put following into your /etc/telescope.keys:
    Code:
    press(Right): internal(selectRight)
    press(Left): internal(selectLeft)
    press(Up): internal(selectUp)
    press(Down): internal(selectDown)
    press(Return): internal(switchToSelected)
  • Several potential bugs was fixed
  • Added a couple of config-options for one guy who tries to adopt Telescope on Ubuntu on N8x0

You just need to press Home key (F5). One with house symbol on N800 and with two overlapping squares on N810. This key usually calls native task navigator (onscreen menu with window list). After installing Telescope this button will call the graphical task switcher with thumbnails like at screenshot in first post.

silvermountain, thanks!

The next bit of work for you:
Telescope 0.2.8.1
  • Home (F5) key for calling Telescope can now be changed using "hotkey = …" in /etc/telescope.conf

BTW, Telescope is really lacks the logo… Unfortunately, my drawing skills are horrible and any help from you guys would be much appreciated!
I really love the icon of Microsoft WorldWide Telescope. But my tries to draw something similar was failed with shame

Mitrandir, I had the same question as bunanson when I first installed Telescope. I hunted through the menus and didn't find it. I think I discovered how it worked by accident.

Suggestion: include an explanation similar to the one you just gave bunanson in the description of TeleScope that shows up in the Applications Manager. Another suggestion would be to pop up a message box after TeleScope installs, but that might be overkill.

When I try to install this from maemo garage (as your first post has no link... to it?), I get slammed with missing dependencies.
Update: Ahh, fixed it

buurmas, thanks, this makes sense. I think i will include short popup notice into packet in next release.

silvermountain, could you please add link to these both to first post:
1. Garage page: https://garage.maemo.org/projects/telescope. Please add notice that dependencies won't be installed automatically when installing from deb-file from garage page. But all dependencies are available in Extras repository.
2. Install-file for installing from Extras-Devel: http://skriblovsky.net/maemo/telescope.install. Please add big fat note that this install-file will add unstable Extras-Devel repository to one's device.
Thank you!

Mgamerz, thank you to pointing on this

Telescope 0.2.9
  • D-Bus support. Telescope can now be called by D-Bus method call:
    bus: org.telescope
    path: /Telescope
    method: org.telescope.Telescope.Show (or Hide)
Next version of Diablo5 theme will include statusbar applet for calling task switcher (like in Fremantle)
  • Workaround for liqbase applications. They will be iconified when telescope appears
