I have a question. It might be silly but I'm not a tech guy so excuse me.

Is it possible to disable Skype (or others as well) on the N900 when you already logged in to Skype on computer? I mean you can make it offline but wouldn't it be nice if this happens automatically? When I receive a message on computer it also goes to phone which alerts the notification, etc.

Thanks for this, can't wait for FB chat.

One other thing, is there any portal/hub/method where I can easily see when updates etc. for butterfly are release? A website or RSS or something?

Thanks.

I would like to start out by thanking Chris for his help in getting me into AIM on my n900. Here is an easy to use set of directions that worked for me and without any unforseen issues - yet.

Disclaimer: This involves using Maemo Extras Dev. This can brick you n900. Follow at your own risk

You have to go to your Application Manager. If you haven't already, enable the Extras, Extras-testing, and Extras-devel repositories. I don't normally advise this, but I can't remember which repository it is in. Once you enable them, go to "ALL" and select the application titled "account-plugin-haze". This will add support for AIM, GaduGadu, Groupwise, ICQ, MSN, QQ, SameTime, and Yahoo.

Once you install this plugin, select the menu bar along the top and select "Application Catalogs". Next add the catalog Extras-devel.
1. Click the button "new"
2. Create catalog name "Maemo Development"
3. Web Address "http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/
4. Distribution "Fremantle"
5. Components "free non-free"
6. Close out of the menu

Next at the application manger menu select "download" and go on to install the "account-plugin-haze" plugin. Now before you do anything else return to Application Catalogs screen, select Select Extras-devel and disable them via the options and select "Maemo Development" and DISABLE the catalog by selecting the checkbox at the bottom. Now return to the home screen and Then, click the status bar where the clock and battery indicator are, and select "Availability".

Scroll to the bottom and press "Accounts", select the "New" button on the right, and enter your details. And that's it!

Again... This can brick you n900. Follow at your own risk

To Kieron, I keep a tetherable microUSB cable and a charger at all times. I usually carry a spare battery from other Symbian devices, but I don't have one that matches the N900. I'm a power parasite.

I prefer Skype stay active on device and PC simultaneously. I did it just two days ago so I could accept files to the PC while chatting on both depending on where I was. They sync in close to real time, and I liked how I could use the PC for file transfer, and SSH in to bring it into my device. Thanks to GA for schooling me on SSH.

I have been getting an intermitant issue when i switch connection points wetween wifi and hspd. Some times it resolves itself when i turn off the wifi connection, but others i need to reboot. it may just be a bug, i have not checked the logs.

It seems that msn (haze) can't sign in with the same account that is signed in at another place? I know the protocol supports it. Will it eventually support this feature?
