We could get red pill back if someone flash back to 42-11, make a copy of packages changed in 44-1

Diff them and should be able to see the code for red pill to reinsert

Just takes a bit of time

People with Summit (41-10) firmwares, pay attention, might be just me, but the update didn't go too well on my (admittedly hacked to death) loaner device. People with release firmwares, pay no attention to this

They could install something in a non-standard repos, or possibly the -devel repos (I'm not sure what checks, if any, are done there), but not in one of the official repositories (without hacking in anyway). Whether the N900 will install firmware updates from these repositories or not I don't know (firmware updates may even have to be signed).

I had some problems with the update. Two times I tried to install it from the App Manager, it downloaded it, then clicked continue to install, but then the device rebooted sw_rst. I was low on battery so I had the USB cable put in while installing.

When I tried without cable but then it said: not enough battery life to install update.

So then I just charged it for a while, disconnected the device and tried again. Third time it actually installed.

Installed in UK on Vodafone,

very simple, very quick

the phone is definitely snappier to use, but my movies are still skipping frames on video playback :-(
