I would get off 205 variant asap if i were you. I bought my N900 direct from Nokia on a VF contract so that i would not have Vf messing with my device. I was amazed when i re-flashed my N95 8Gb how many features Vodafone had inhibited.

Has anyone else noticed that web browsing much faster and battery life better following this update ?

Research & Development (RD) mode is one way of getting root access which gives you a great deal more control but can also break your device. You can now also gain root access by installing rootsh from the application manager - search the wiki for more on this.

hi guys, my first message to all.
i havent recieved no update but i have:
v 3.2010.02-8
rx-51
my nokia repository reads: https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/mr0/
do i have to be patient and just wait? feels like im the only one without the update.
FYI - im in the uk and got my phone through carphone warehouse in Dec

very strange! i didnt even get the usual maemo 5 update...ok then - cant argue with that! thanks again

You've got the global firmware, not the UK-specific variant, so you would have had the update several weeks ago.

The phone operates with their network. The operator will want to make sure that things work as expected. If the operator is supplying a variant phone (205 is vodafone specific) then they have a need to support it. This is not always to do with visible branding.
