Does OptimizedN900 use killall or dsmetool to restart hildon-desktop.
I encountered different problems with Qt and Python applications after
using dsmetool to stop and restart hildon-desktop.
But killall worked fine.

That's not a bug. It's simply not implemented yet.

It uses killall.

When I add this widget to my desktop, all widgets disappear.

I've tried with python2.5 /usr/share/pyshared/drlaunch/widget.py and the new widget that appears on the screen works ok but the ones I had installed are unable to launch programs.

Any clue?

For two above messages and my own findings is that it *looks* like that hildon-desktop (i have community ssu and MAG's hildon-desktop that comes with it) crashes.

I havent had time to debug into this but my setup is as follows:

main desktop has media player widget and calendar widget and if i try to enable drlauncher, hildon-desktop will crash, drlauncher wont appear and rest of the widgets won't get re-loaded either ..

Your problem is not related with mine in any way. With standard Hildon desktop, after a killall that reloads all the desktop and widgets, DrLaunch works ok except that doesn't launch any programs.
