Is there an issue with users having 2.6.21 vs 2.6.28 in their .item file, half the the posts have one and have the other, this may be causing some issues.
It should be "Maemo 2.6.28.10power39" as this is the kernel that is used. ITEM_NAME doesn't actually matter as this is just what is shown in the multiboot menu and can be anything. ITEM_KERNEL is important though as if this does not point to the correct kernel it will not boot.

I think it was me that put 21 instead but did explain there may be typos. Have corrected the post where I wrote that now though.

Hi. maybe you guys could help a noob out....

Well, I got newest NITDroid and multiboot installed.
Now, before the NITDroid installation I got 'RobbieThe1sts BackupMenu which runs at bootmenu level' installed.

as m linux/coding skills are very limited, I would like to kno how I could implement 'BackupMenu' in multiboot?

I installed nitdroid via the autoinstaller yesterday, I had kernel power 40 and standar kernel apart from nitdroid one. Today after turning off and on the phone it was bricked, so I had to reflash again.

I didn't touch anything i had booted different kernels several times yesterday, but today the device decided to brick without doing anything apart from being stand by.

Just looked at the thread and.....

Will Multiboot work with my script?
I just took a look at it - it probably -won't-, at least not by copying it into /etc/multiboot.d/.
You can -probably- get it to work the same by:
1. at the boot prompt, press C for console.
2. type "/path/to/BackupMenu.item"
If that doesn't work, make sure its marked as executable by running:
"chmod +x /path/to/BackupMenu.item".

Now, someone well versed in writing item files for MultiBoot -might- be able to convince it to drop to a shell and then excecute it, but I can't do it.

Either way, go ahead and experiment - Though the latter is fairly unlikely.
Let me know if you make it work, and how you did it.

That's very bizzare. Not seen anyone have this problem before. Especially as it worked fine previously!

I searched, read a lot of posts about multiboot and Nitdroid but i am still a bit confused.

Is it safe to just upgrade multiboot 0.2.5 to 0.2.10-1 via application manager ?

or

is it necessary to use the NITDroid 0.0.7 And Auto Installer.

I have a working multiboot 0.2.5 and i can boot maemo, nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-05 / NITDroid-N900-the-flying-world and kernel-power39.

Thanks for your help

Edit:
Upgraded from v0.2.5 to 0.2.10-1 with application manager without problems.
Note that just after upgrading the desktop became unresponsive. Rebooting solved the problem.
The only problem still remaining from version 0.2.5 is the start a shell option. I can't make it work.

Thumbs up to Jay-C and multiboot team.

Thanks

you are best off using the auto-installer as this will update everything for you. NITDroid has had improvements to wifi and multiboot does not have the issues with powering off when flashing maemo or not being able to boot with charger connected.
