DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS ADVICE! :P Refer back to my info a few posts back about how you CAN but really.. really shouldn't flash the whole firmware. You're far better off simply fixing the problem--there's rarely a good reason for crashing in Android, honestly.

Man, I'm out of the country for 5 days, and the world turns on its head! Nokia and Microsoft? What? 10" Tab? Jeeze..

Forgive the short (and off topic) response, but I'm trying to catch up with all of my readings as I feel incredibly out of it.

.... I hope I never lapse into a coma...

Please tell what advice is here that is not to be listened to? My links go to Tab specific information forums. Are you saying that no one is to read xda-devs or MoDaCo? If so, then thanks for the suggestion but go stuff it.

Well done for stating the obvious but who ever said that Maps was not in the Market?

The OP has problem with Navigate which is not in Market. What information do you have that Navigate is part of Maps?

The information I have seen is that Navigate is part of the Os. Hence the suggestion to reflash if the problem is not related to Task Killer.

How else to reinstall Navigate? I really would like to know so please tell us as there are other posters elsewhere who have the same problem.

Well, it seems that Samsung is going do away with the 7" form factor for tablets and embrace the 10" due to market performance of the former.

It feels like the gadget world has changed so much in the last 4 days!

You're an idiot, Starscream. You didn't even have the courtesy to specifically point to a thread or details about the problem.

The information I have that Navigate is part of GOOGLE MAPS is from both Google itself (I refer to exhibit A: http://www.google.com/mobile/navigation/) as well as the FACT that if I wipe my Droid clean and install a virgin Cyanogen, I need only install Google Maps to get Navigation (since the Navigation icon is a shortcut to the Google Maps portion that does turn-by-turn).

If you had bothered to read the XDA forums as much as I do and actually did some rooting, flashing and playing with Android as I do, you wouldn't look so foolish. And I CLEARLY pointed out (in http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=932709) and this time I will quote it for you, for clarification about flashing the whole device:

QUESTION: how do I get this thing back to the way I got it from the store?
Factory reset means resetting your SETTINGS to factory settings--it has nothing to do with reinstalling the software/firmware state. For that you would need to flash the ROM with the OS image or use Samsung's app that flashes the entire device firmware.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a Samsung application called Odin that use a PIT (image file) for your particular device to restore everything to factory state. But I would HIGHLY recommend NOT doing this or only doing it as a very, last resort (i.e. you're already bricked).
You didn't even have the courtesy to give someone safe advice, going right for the risky procedure that is more likely to damage a device. Shame on you.

I still think 7" is an ideal compromise between portability and usability for a tablet form factor.

Don't have a link handy, but check out the HTC flyer. Same resolution as the Tab, 7", 1.5ghz CPU, and most interestingly a capacitive stylus included.

Oh, you mean.. THIS thing? ALSO.. THIS?

It's AWFUL! It only runs Froyo! No wait, I take that back.
Well, son of a gun. They don't play Nokia style games, do they?

Hehe.... by the by... for ALLLLLL of us who'll eventually be buzzing on honeycomb, check THIS news out!!!

God, I love you, Android.

I got this keyboard today from best buy.

It works great.....but the touch keyboard is always in the way.

Is there a way I could hide it when my bluetooth keyboard is connected?

The pen on the HTC flyer is looking really, really enticing. The thing is 7", has an active digitizer and will get honeycomb. The only thing that has me a bit worried, is that the battery life is supposed to be sub-par (due to a small battery) which is a huge strike against it IMHO.

This should have been a premium device, but it seems that HTC is marketing a budget device with a gimmick. If this is true (which it very well may not be), then they are testing to see whether the pen will find a market. My only issue with this is, it's hard to judge the performance performance of a pen-equipped device, if the roll-out device is annoying in other areas.

It's too soon to tell, yet. But I'm going to be watching this one.

No I don't have the link, but it was from a response to a post in MoDaCo and the information that Navigate was part of the Os was never corrected by anyone.

So my assumption, which was based on that particular advice, was clearly wrong.

"To get the latest release of Google Maps with Navigation"
Thank you for the link. That clear ups the question.

The next time i see a poster with this problem I shall refer him to it. Though I won't see the need to be as obnoxious about it as you do.

Since I bought my Streak I have reflashed about a dozen times in keeping up to date with the latest version of a custom ROM. As indeed have hundreds (thousands?) of others.

From what I can see with CyanogenMod and the like, a great many users do likewise with their devices.

ROM flashing is now mainstream, thank you for your caveats though.
