Great... W16 now says imap.gmail.com server name or port number incorrect. So no new mail unless I use the web.

i have found that to work correctly , you need to have the EXACT same info entered into the built in client , set the auto retrieve time the same as in modest , but..LEAVE AUTO RETRIEVE DISABLED on the built in client... ALL info on both apps has to be the same

Installed 1.0-2008.16-1 through upgrading, now imap gmail (assuming it's the SSL issue) is no longer working. Looking forward to 17-1...

Is there any way to downgrade from version 17 to 16? I used to follow Qole method, but he was smart enough to avoid last upgrade...

If a package insists on one of the other ones as a dependency, just install the dependency first.
- libtinymail-1.0-0_1.0.0-svn3438_armel.deb
- libtinymail-camel-1.0-0_1.0.0-svn3438_armel.deb
- libtinymail-gnomevfs-1.0-0_1.0.0-svn3438_armel.deb
- libtinymailui-1.0-0_1.0.0-svn3438_armel.deb
- libtinymailui-gtk-1.0-0_1.0.0-svn3438_armel.deb
- libtinymail-maemo-1.0-0_1.0.0-svn3438_armel.deb
- modest_1.0-2008.10-1_armel.deb
If someone finds a problem with my instructions, my links or the install order, please tell me.
This will probably be obsoleted soon, when they release a fixed version. But if you can't wait for the update...
1. What is the difference from following all of these instructions and simply clicking on uninstall and then running the older debs from here?
2. If this is necessary for proper uninstall / downgrade, are these instructions still valid as alephito was asking (i mean besides that I would need to change version numbers from w10 to w14 or whatever I wanted)?

I use pop3 to check my mail and I am also getting the same error. Should I file a separate bug report or will the first one suffice? Maybe Ill just add a comment to the other report.
