set them again with themecustomizer and booted the phone, didn't work.. set another iconset with themecustomizer and boot.. still no icons..
should i "killall hildon-status-menu" in xterm?

That's strange... the icons must be there.
Try with killall otherwise, please try to re-install quick-launch.

I installed, icons were blank, I set the icons, restarted hildon-status-menu and all is normal.

Powerkey feature does not work anymore since latest release. I tried to deactivate powerkey option and reactivate and reboot, but nothing seems to get quicklaunch in the powerkeymenu.
