Well for MeeGo it is supposed to be architecture independent, so the CPU type for user applications shouldn't matter in the slightest. Nokia's Qt tools and Madde make building for either trivial.

and would indicate that they don't have confidence that the OS alone can provide the necessary differentiation.
That or they got a real good deal from Intel.

Using an 854x480 screen when everyone else is shifting over to qHD (960x540) is just effing lazy!
We'll see what the final resolution is when the device is actually released. Test platforms don't necessarily hold 1:1 with final devices.

Nokia switching to a different OS will not help it reach the 100 million US subscribers on CDMA.
Yep, good point.

Largest US mobile operator: AT&T with 95.5M subscribers
#2 US mobile operator: Verizon with 94.1M subscribers

The title of this thread is really misleading.

Title: "Nokia going to abandon MeeGo?"
Content: "Nokia going to abandon making just one MeeGo device?"

The titles is not "Nokia going to abandon Meego?" ?

But to be honest I didn't think this thread would get the response it as with over 200 posts and even being highlighted in this weeks Meamo Weekly news, all that and it only warrents one "Thanks" for my initial post!!!

It is interesting how many other articles have picked up on this one subject following Elop's speech, both for and against, Nokia's continued support of Meego.

Given the post today showing how much Nokia are now apparently spending on Symbian/Meego developement I really wonder whether just moving to Android would make the most sense.

Just come across this on Engadgets website, are we going to get more Intel phones running both Meego and Android OS on the same device?

http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/03/a...ed-android-me/

Is that why Linux are advertising they are now running both Meego & Android training courses/ All interesting stuff?

translated

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop apparently planning a radical restructuring of top management. Half of the Board at risk of expulsion.
