instead of typing it in, i ran the sunspider test for java btw and our lowly n900 is better than the new shiny ipad, just for shits and giggles. hella faster than the N1

To make it permanent you need to edit /etc/pmconfig

Considering over 1000mhz kernels are now readily available.
I will share some of the Lehto kernels that never went public.
I have posted the link in my guide. Link is in my signature below.
(it's the 3rd link in thre Lehto's kernel section named 'hardcore')

Please keep in mind that these are not ulv kernels. (standard voltage)
They also cover the range 125-1000 instead of 250-1000.
I personally have used them for days at a time without any issues.
If your N900 doesn't boot with them, reflash slower kernel using a PC.

i have no interest in a perm 1000mhz change, i guess, just a "batch" file i can execute on my desktop, similar to the FM Boost application. this post seems to go over some of the steps but never actually comes through with a solid answer on how to give permissions to the file you create so it will run successfully: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=451771&postcount=5 and pmconfig still holds the scaling max at 600000 with lehtos kernels, im not sure which part of the pmconfig you would change.

anyway any help would be glorius thanks guys.

I did flash the lethos 800 mhz ulv using pc but i want to be able to use the phone to do those commands to restore fw info and original kernel via phone
Hmm, looks okay to me. Can you do apt-get update and apt-get upgrade on your console? Does it give any errors?
To find out what exactly what kernel to reinstall, do
Code:
apt-cache search mp-fremantle-*
That should tell you which kernel is available in repo and you can use the reinstall option with that one

hey i can update but cannot upgrade

By the way your kernel is probably mp-fremantle-mr0-pr so try that
its not, everything was fine, i know what i was doing and i think after 700 post i have an idea how to do things but when i tried titan wget ( i copied and pasted exactly) the problems started then, not before, i didnt become dumb till that moment.

which is the error
Code:

/home/user #
Code:
apt-cache search mp-fremantle-*
gives me that same error :The package kernel-modules-maemo needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
