Just got off the phone with Nokia USA.

So apparently the rebate is based off of the Pre-Order date, and you ARE required to include a receipt with the rebate submission (even thought the rebate is not perfectly clear about this.)

Amen to that. I have had a terrible experience with trying to get an N900 ordered over the phone with them. Currently I have it pre-ordered with newegg, but I am on hold right now to try one more time with Nokiausa and if they can't get it straightened out they can go to hell.

The rebate is for devices PURCHASED between Nov 16 and Dec 31. It has just become available for purchase today. If I haven't been charged any money (yet) I can't have PURCHASED it yet, only ordered it.

By the way how do you "activate" Ovi on the N900????

I've just e-mailed the following to Amazon, let's see what they reply with:

Hello,

I have pre-ordered the Nokia N900 on Oct 17th. I've noticed that a rebate offer came out a few days ogo for $50. I've also noticed that one of the requirements for that rebate offer is that the purchase be made between Nov. 16th and Dec. 31st 2009.

Although I have pre-ordered the device on October 17th, I have not in fact purchased it yet.

I just wanted to ask and make sure that the invoice I will be receiving from you will show the actual Purchase date of the device. Meaning the date you will charge my Credit Card.

I also need this "actual" date to be reflected for the purpose of taking advantage of my square trade warranty. The Warranty is effective as of the purchase date, so I do not intend to pay for a warranty that will cover me from the day I pre-ordered, without having had a device in my hands for over a month.

Thank you very much for your time and your services.

Sincerely,

you mean someone has asked the question of amazon and they've replied? would you mind stating what their answer was? Sorry don't have the time to go back and search through this huge thread....

*** EDIT ***
Actually I know what you mean I've read those posts I believe, but I'm taking a different approach,

trying to see if they'll satisfy me as a customer and not force me to change my order and get back in line to take advantage of the rebate... :P

According to the Nokia rep, the date of the pre-order has to be between Nov16-Dec31st... but she didn't seem too knowledgeable..

Basically you need a receipt that shows you've purchased the device between Nov16-Dec31.

The invoice sent from Amazon has the date that you actually pre-ordered it on, not the actual date they charge your card or ship it, so basically we are screwed unless you reorder it or go with Newegg.
