Yup, I am already using those. By the way, reading through some OMAP3430 literature, it seems that ondemand is the preferred route for TI as the idle mode power consumption is extremely low and wake up latency is not very highy. That does make me wonder whether to use 125 or 250, but I guess a battery test would help with that.

I am on the latest lv kernel and i run these settings:

echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/ignore_nice_load
echo 75 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold
echo 150000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate
echo 124999 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo 899000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

i have to say if i use that then conky if i dont do anything but just watch conky that i see even if the usage is between 4 and 12% the cpu freq is 900mhz
and by doing nothing else i see it jumping between 125mhz en 900mhz very often with cpu usage between those 4-12%

it might be better if we can use a lower voltage for 125Mhz than for 250.

I agree. a battery test with [125,850] and [250,850] would be very interesting.

that's expected with your 2nd ard 3rd setting

Could someone quite familiar with this thread sum up what has been going on throughout the last 1500 posts? I was away for a week and completely lost the track of it.

I have an overclocked n900 to 900Mhz since 04.04.10 and experienced nearly no problem at all - just a fast battery drainage the day before yesterday (from 63% to a dead battery in an hour or so).

Cheers,
Ralph

i have it overclocked to 900 mhz.. and i actually get better battery.. though i do use the DSP overclock, maybe that's got something to do with it?
anyways, i'm very happy with the overclock. browsing is snappier than at first.

Cheers everybody

i wouldnt expect that at all when i read this:

http://www.pantz.org/software/cpufre...eqonlinux.html

i have set the sampling_rate to 150ms and the up_threshold is 75
so if i read it correctly that means that the average cpu usage in 150ms must be 75%
But it never is for me at least that is not what i see its almost idling between 4 and 12%

So i wouldnt expect it to be going up at all..
Or am i reading those values wrong?

titan your time_in_state script ain't working, when i execute it i get this:

Nokia-N900-51-1:~# ./time_in_state

Current frequency: 500 MHz

1200 MHz: overall 0.0 %, when not idle awk: cmd. line:1: Division by zero
1100 MHz: overall 0.0 %, when not idle awk: cmd. line:1: Division by zero
1000 MHz: overall 0.0 %, when not idle awk: cmd. line:1: Division by zero
950 MHz: overall 0.0 %, when not idle awk: cmd. line:1: Division by zero
124.999 MHz: overall 13.4 %
