ok, try unmount -a then mount again,

edit : also if after that you get a issue try to reboot the n900 and try mounting, some times i have issues remounting partitions until i reboot

i did umount -a it worked (i think)

tried to mount again with the 2 possibilities but still the same response

does anyone know if you are on the original (maemo stock) kernel, if ext partitions cant be mounted? that may be nielsvg's problem.
