Samsung has too much money , they just wanted to waste some of it.

Mabee they simply used Tizen as a negotiate chip with Google. It was a smoke grenade.

Samsung were supposed to release a Tizen device this time last year, then they were supposed to deliver a device in Q1 of this year, then they were supposed to deliver a device this month, then they were supposed to deliver a device in Q4, now it looks like the first device won't come until 2014, if ever.

Like I said before, if you want a proper N900/N9 sucessor, then Jolla are still the very obvious choice. If Tizen and Samsung fail, then it's no loss to Samsung, as they'll still make billions from Android. On the other hand, if Sailfish devices fail, then everyone on Jolla will be unemployed. I think you will find that the sharp pencil that is being pressed into the spine of Jolla and their employees will ensure that a product is released and that it will be made to work.

Having carefully followed how this project has evolved since it's inception, it seems unlikely to me that it's been axed completely.
I highly doubt they've ditched it for an alternative OS (as some rumours suggest), but if they have, I dearly hope it's Sailfish.*
I reckon the project will continue but there'll be changes in: how it's organised, maybe in some of the core tech used, & in it's priority level.
Slightly less likely than all of that... is that it has been axed completely....

*I'd be disappointed if it was Ubuntu, & I doubt it would be given the control Canonical/Mark will want to have over certain elements.
But if it can't be Sailfish, then I guess Ubuntu is an okay alternative....

Samsung + Jolla, that would be excellent! Ironic too, especially if that combination starts outselling Windows Phone.

I use enlightenment on my laptop, I find it elegant and very brisk. I'd always hoped the Tizen team would put some effort into developing/documenting Elev8 for apps.

The Tizen device is immanent. I can feel it.

enlightenment is for geeks. app developers to lazy learning C this days.

If Samsung are serious about Tizen they should definitivly go Qt route. If they want people making apps for the platform. Actually that would be a only logical reason to "delay" Tizen if they don't actually planning to dish Tizen. Qt5 just released an the community WANTS Qt on Tizen.

I doubt samsung would license sailfishos. But I know a finish company that would be hurt even more if they did poor little Elop In all cases I think Jolla should ask Samsung to license SailfishOS just to get a pressure on Stephen Elop ROTFL.

But I doubt China would like this idea...

What?!!?
What does this mean?

Why would Samsung use SailOS when it has its own Tizen?
And why would Jolla care?
...why would China care?

I'm there right now, they don't give a flying duck!
They sell Pirated WindowsRT Installation Discs...that's how much they care for licensing!!

Rampant pirating != that there's no room also for licensing, it doesn't automatically follow along that line...
This is a industry that's maturing far beyond it's more simplistic copycat one of the past, it's value-adding more than it ever has, & regularly building on that.
Samsung isn't likely (although certainly not impossible), but a Chinese-based player or players certainly still is.
