I mailed Shazam 4 months ago, they told me that they don't have any release date yet.

So I mailed them again a week ago asking if they already know when it will be released.
Guess what.... They sent me the SAME answer which I got 4 months ago!

I was very mad they used auto generated email replies....

So I mailed them back asking for a REAL reply..
Finally, this is what they sent me:

At the moment we have no further details on the development of the Application for handsets running the Maemo operating software, and we don't offer beta versions of the software as we tend to release once it's been fully tested.

As mentioned before, once this becomes available, details will be released to our website.

I smell vapoware

Look for instinctiv on Ovi store, it does recognize songs.

There was a video of shazam on n900 with a 'thanks to QT' address but i don't think there is a hope for shazam on maemo soon. BUT there is soundhound i saw it on n97 and its amazing it can recognize any song/track, i played a trance song with both phones n900 (instinctiv) vs. n97 (soundhound) and soundhound got it with less than the famous 20 sec. where instinctiv didn't recognize it. instinctiv is a bit weak and only recognizes the famous songs.
We need a petition to port soundhound to maemo cause i think its open source application.

why do you need a petition if it's open source? you just need a mouse and keyboard and a few minutes...

I'm not so sure about its being open source, and i'm a windows user with no experience with linux. I hope any1 could step in and give it a look

Soundhound is most definitely not open souce. At one point it was cripleware (some features were disabled if you didn't pay for the app). Currently it is adware (shows ads in the app if you dont pay for the app)
