You didn't really answer the hildon acceleration one. If it is the tweak described in this post then it really should come with a warning because it isn't stable, it made my (otherwise stable) N900 freeze up several times before I was sure it was the cause and I disabled it again, but YMMV and it may work for some. If it is something different I'd be interested to know what exactly it is.

Just spent the entire night troubleshooting my N900 that would freeze and spontaneously reboot several times a day. After disabling hildon acceleration the problem seems to have gone away. I'm at 950mhz/ULV.
I recommend you update the botton to toggle the feature on and off. Right now the button only enables the feature.
The crashes seemed to be triggered by sustained high cpu usage. Opening OpenOffice Writer inside LXDE was always a sure way to trigger a reboot.
