Any natives to translate the article? The automatic translation doesn't quite cut it. I assume it's about the group executive board, not board of directors?

If Vanjoki had been chosen the CEO, he would've kept three of the executive board as it was then according to the same source that broke the "Ollila wanted Vanjoki to be the CEO" story.

At least it's a bit more plausible rumor than those "Nokia will go WP77Android/iOS/whateverOS!11!1!". In fact, I believe restructuring the organization is what is needed - flatten the organization, make execution more effective. No need for other OS's.

OK, quick summary:

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is allegedly planning a radical shake-up of the executive board. Half of the current board-members, most of them Finns, are reportedly to be ousted. Among them Kai Öistämö (Chief Development Officer) and Tero Ojanperä (Executive Vice President Services, Mobile Solutions). Mary MacDowell (Executive Vice President Mobile Phones Unit) and Niklas Savander (Executive Vice President Markets) are also expected to be let go. Headhunters are reportedly searching on a world-wide basis to recruit internationally experienced top talent with high software expertise.

A relevant question to ask, is why is Nokia doing this. Why are they announcing that they will make an announcement a month before the announcement is made?

I cannot come up with any good answer, other than the announcement better be a worth while announcement, a groundbreaking one. If it is just a "was that all" kind of thing, this only shows Nokia is in really bad shape, at least Elop and his comrades on the top is.

Edit: Just had a revelation of sorts Nokia for me: I love the engineering, the technology, the hardware. For instance the N8, the perfect fit and weight, or the 6700 Slide - so perfectly shaped and engineered, or the 5800 - a perfect balance of functionality and price - excellent value even today. Even the N900 - a sturdy rough brick made of surprisingly high quality materials. I also love Symbian - THE perfect mobile OS (but could have been so much better today).

But then I look at what the Nokia management does, how they screw things up again and again, and I'm thinking why? There's something missing there, common sense, 20 points on the IQ scale or something. I don't know, but today they are just reacting to circumstances, they are not utilizing the talents within Nokia and there is no firm hand at the rudder.

Because that is all they have been doing, making an announcement about making an announcement, but it ends up in nothing. Last year Mr Elop announced that they would make an announcement about MeeGo devices late 2010. 2010 is gone and no announcement. Now they have announced they will announce "something" relating to ecosystems, big changes, cooperation and so on. It better be something real and substantial, but still, what about the MeeGo devices?

If Nokia was in good shape, they wouldn't do this, they would simply deliver, or at least say: February 11 we will show you our new MeeGo device called N9.

I don't think they will show a MeeGo phone on the 11th. They will wait until MWC to do that. All this ecosystem talk is about adding value to the devices so I think maybe Microsoft Office type software agreements for Symbian/MeeGo or even Silverlight app/games support on Symbian/MeeGo. Maybe then bringing Qt to WP7 but nothing about Nokia releasing any WP7 phones.

Microsoft and Nokia already have a lot of cooperation going on. Bing maps is powered by Nokia's Naveq for instance.

thtat means people from Microsoft Elop loves them. That means Meego is doomed and Nokia too

And dont be soo naive about "nokia will never goo wp7" with a totally new board atleast if they are americans this is possible...

I personally think Nokia would best stick with 1 OS, whichever it is they choose. It focuses their mindset & effort.. and lessen the uncertainty (and confusion) of the market.
