Why should rebate be only applied between Nov 16 - Dec 31...isn't that kind of stupid. It should apply anytime up to Dec 31. Obviously they never release the phone until Nov 16. This means people who purchase it early get no rebate because they purchase early?? This don't make sense. I can understand if you purchase after Dec 31, then you don't get rebate. But those who purchase it early even BEFORE the rebate form is EVEN INVENTED...they should be treated with rebate with the utmost priority. Think about it?? This is sooo wrong and illogical!!

I guess they already know that pre orders will pay anyway and they want more devices to be sold for the rest.....

I don't think it will really be an issue.

In the summer rebate program I submitted an invoice that didn't even have my name on it and it was accepted fine. (It was from the NokiaUSA four hour sale, and I wasn't able to order for myself at the time)

Moreover, the form doesn't state that a receipt need be submitted, therefore I will not submit an invoice or receipt. Additionally, in my experience if one's rebate submission is declined, calling them always results in the rebate being sent, probably because they don't want to waste the time to figure out whether you're actually eligible.

(Note, I'm not encouraging rebate fraud, I'm encouraging those whose phones are shipped after the 16th to claim the rebate for which they are eligible)

Edited to add: I just checked, Amazon invoices clearly indicate the ship date..in much larger letters than the "order placed" date.

Edited again to add:

I think you will need to cut the UPC code to be shipped. Which is enough evidence enough.

No, you'll only get it if you ordered between Nov.16 and Dec.31. If you pre-ordered before Nov.16, then that date will show up on your invoice and not the actual date in which your card is charged and the item shipped.

Just go back like 15 pages and you'll see we already went over this in great detail.

Actually it does Einstein. It says it directly under the four sub-itemized required things to do.

'Please keep a copy of your submission for your records. Mail-In Form, dated store receipt and UPC/barcode panel must be postmarked by January 8, 2010 and received no
later than January 15, 2010. Submissions postmarked after January 8, 2010 or received after January 15, 2010 will not be accepted and are void.'

It also says it to the right in the fine print.

Also it doesn't matter if it say's the ship date or not...seriously learn to read the details. It clearly state's 'purchased', not shipped--if you purchased between Nov.16 - Dec.31. Jesus people stop being lazy and go back like 15 pages and skim through them and you'll get all your answers. Upper left hand side of your invoice...oh look...'Ordered Date'

You can be condescending, but the form says quite clearly directly below the items they ask for in large print:

"If any of the above items are not mailed in their entirety, your submission will not be processed."

Their failure to update their boilerplate does not place a burden on the submitter to include an item not required.

Besides, if you mail in early you can correct the supposed "deficiency" prior to the deadline.

Even if there was such a requirement, Amazon's invoices do include both an "order date" (in small print) and a "ship date" (in large print). Which one do you think the minimum wage mail-opener is going to look at (especially if you circle it )?

My point is that the rebate form has no language on it which requires the submission of a receipt. Moreover, the form specifically states Requires purchase of a new, eligible Nokia N97, Nokia N900, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, or Nokia 5530 XpressMusic (Games Edition) device between November 16, 2009 and December 31, 2009.

You purchase something when you pay for it. The form also contains no language limiting when the device is ordered, only when it is purchased..

If you want to get into a tizzy, be my guest, but the plain language of the form says you get the rebate, even if you choose to submit a receipt despite there being no request or demand for said receipt.

Edited to add: I guess we'll see how it works out in 10 weeks or so.
