For those of us who aren't really Linux-literate (like, I don't know what a .diff is), is there at this time a way to install tear that includes the improvements since the cookie-caching problem was discovered? I'm happy to wait a bit, too, rather than your taking time to give a long explanation if a new .deb is coming soon. Thanks!

The last libwebkit (41137-8) deb has the cookie improvements (that's the only change in fact), so it should be safe to install it.

Didn't notice the new libwebkit... Somehow I missed this post... I've updated my repo now...

I think the link to "Some installation instructions from nobodysbusiness" is out-of-date and can be removed now from Post #1.

Are libidn11, libxslt1.1, and libpcre3 things that need to be installed specially? (That is, are they required but not automatically downloaded with libwebkit and tear?) If not, then the directions for installing can be something like:

Go to Application Manager. Go to Tools > Application catalog... >

If you do not have a Catalog called Qole, click New and add:

Catalog name: Qole
Web address: http://qole.org/repository
Distribution: maemo
Components: main

Click OK. Close Catalogs. Click Browse installable applications. Install the following:

libwebkit
tear

In tear, does everybody get what appear to be Chinese characters on the homepage of maemo.org (after "Downloads For OS2008)?

GeraldKo: I get the Chinese characters in talk.maemo.org too, on the menu on the right side.

EDIT: Maybe I'm wrong, and I get them on the main maemo.org site. I don't have my tablet with me at the moment.

qole, I don't get them in talk.maemo.org, only in maemo.org

Do you think somebody is trying to tell us something?

(And what's with the new avatar?!?)

See the link in my signature. Go for the Pimp Qole, stay for the dancing bacon with beer utility belts and berets singing Abba tunes.
