Alas, Kindle's black and white has nothing to do with bravery: it is simply a drawback of the current ebook reader technology. I am sure that if Amazon could put a color display there they would. As to the "free" connection you have, it is fully paid up by yourself and other people buying overpriced DRMed ebooks from Amazon monopoly. There is no free lunch

I'm no expert, but I don't see that kind of courage in the N900. It combines a bunch of technological trends; I don't see anything original about it. It's just geek++
On the contrary, N900 seems to have lost a lot of the original geek factor historically associated with NITs. It now looks more like a normal Nokia smartphone, similar to 5800 or N97. As I need to replace my current phone anyway, N900 looks like a decent solution.

Looks like this device will finally have the GSM phone capabilities I have asked for.
Not sure if I will buy one since I use the OQO Model 02 with the Nokia 6220 however this device is very tempting.

Well at least with this platform if features are missing we as developers can code them. It wasn't so much a big deal that the phone couldn't do mms (talking about the iphone) but it was moreso that apple would reject any application that implemented that feature.

Won't have that problem with Maemo.

Kind of have to agree with them regarding the space bar key. It's really a bonehead move by Nokia and that's coming from someone who loves Nokia phones. There is no advantage (in typing speed) by moving the space bar to that location. If anything it presents a learning curve for using the phone.

I doubt anyone types faster because the keyboard was shoved all the way to the right. It's a feature that doesn't add any benefit to the phone so it really isn't a "feature" at all. Plus people are going to take one look at that keyboard and say they don't like it. That's just the nature of consumers.

One thing I want to write is a virtual keyboard that has NORMAL keyboard layout. Nokia is simply going down the wrong path by having to force users to adapt to a new keyboard. It's a bad idea...

I gotta disagree with you about the space bar. It's finally in a spot where I can reach it completely with one thumb instead of being awkwardly placed where neither of my thumbs could get it easily like on the N810.

So I'm assuming what you are saying is that the N95 is louder? Thats cool. Hopefully we will get a lounder n900 then. That would be sweet. All I said was I havent used a louder handheld. I'm sure they ar eout there. Thanks for the info!
