Decided to go for this in the end
Got it from amazon and it is really good, the top bit that you can see in the picture is a springed hinge that pushes back to allow the n900 to be placed or removed from holder.

Yeah, saw this before, a little too expensive imo
with the proclip it's around 40 euro..
btw my N900 also has the otterbox hardcase, so would it fit in there?
I use it on my motorcycle and I assume there is a way to make a 7/8" motorcycle handelbar moungt fit a bicycle handelbar (I don't know what size handlebar a bicycle uses).
