What version of Handbrake? What OS?

Might try removing, redownloading, and re-importing the Preset.

I've used the Preset before on Linux Handbrake with good success. Unfortunately, some of my 720p Blu Ray rips don't work. Video is fine but audio sounds like it has been run through a slow motion machine and all the voices are extremely deep and explosions sound like Ace Ventura.

I'll be posting a script up later that I've gotten some very good quality x264 encoding with.. but it'll only work on Linux I believe.

hey guys..i tried to use the presets from the wiki (Handbrake Preset 1: N900 Optimized HandBrake Preset. (for Handbrake 0.9.4)

but it seems that i'm having the same "error message" as some users reported..here i attach the screenshot of the error message..

Im guessing you're both on Windows right?

Wonder if there's an incompatibility between that profile and windows..

i finally managed to play avatar..looks great in the N900..quite okay on my 32" LED samsung..now..........trying to embed the subtitle..

i've already included the subtitle during the encoding in Handbrake..but still no subtitle..then,i even created a folder,and put the ".srt" file and rename it same with the video title...still no subtitle..do you know how to resolve this?

Two solutions come to mind: Keep the .srt file in the same directory and use KMplayer + Mplayer (mplayer will load srt's by default).

The other is in the Handbrake settings: Click the "Burned in" button. That should put it right in the video I think..

MinGW? Is that what the normal HandBrake for Windows shows or did you compile that with MinGW yourself?

From what one1002 said it looks like he/she fixed theirs - maybe they can say what they did?

this is what i've tested..

1 : AVATAR (using handbrake 0.9.4 with IPOD PRESET,ALL DEFAULT with the SR = 640 x 380)
- playable both in N900 and TV out. Acceptable quality

2 : AVATAR (using handbrake 0.9.4 with IPOD PRESET, minor adjustments..mostly copied from wiki's preset with
a)SR = 720 X 400,
b)anamorphic = custom with modulus 16,
c)decomb = on
d)disable "CREATE CHAPTER MARKS"
e)(ADVANCED tab) Ref Frames = 4, Motion Estimation Method = Default hexagon,
- playable in both N900 and TV out but with much better pixelation and quality in TV out..

yes there was a user claimed that he noticed no differences in SR 640x320, 720x400 etc.. but the differences CAN be noticed when using TV out...


the second test, i did import the wiki preset,but encountered ERROR messages and then HANDBRAKE did crashed and forced to quit..so,i thought of changing the default IPOD/IPHONE preset, and then manually changing the settings to match the wiki's preset..so there you go..will test more settings when i'm free..

In my Handbrake with the profile what I've got:
Picture Settings -> Uncheck "Optimal for Source", width: 800 (height will adjust to aspect for movie), uncheck "Keep Aspect", Anamorphic Custom, Alignment 16.
Video: H.264, Framerate: same as source, Constant Quality 20 (I don't like this option and usually do a 2 pass @ 1800-2000)
Audio: English (AAC), AAC (faac), 160 bitrate, 48 SR, Stereo, DRC Off
H.264: Reference Frames 4, Mixed References, Manual Option String "cabac=0:bframes=0:subme=6:8x8dct=0:ref=4", Method Hex, Range 16, Subpixel 6, Analysis Some, 8x8 unchecked.

This works in the N900 in my tests, but some video sources don't work with Handbrake well I've noticed.

Am Trying this one tonight....I didn't know the N900 played m4v files.
