No, as I said in the video, only on the wood stands. It won't stick to the acrylic.

However, if you set the acrylic stand on a surface that isn't glass or shiny plastic, it will probably be just fine. You could put tape or a non-slip coating on the bottom yourself as well.

Hi Fake,

1. Wouldn't you prefer handling all these requests in a kind of online store, so you could manage orders and integrate with PayPal and display that movie you created? I'm asking because I can help with that kind of thing.

2. As I understand you made it with some kind of laser printer. Do you think it's possible for you to create a stylus imitating exact measures of the original n900 stylus? As for now, apparently there's no place on the web that sells this kind of stylus.

Great video. These stands look great. I know I am a little late to ask but if you have any left, I would love a couple of wooden ones in the UK if possible.

Many thanks

That's exactly what I'm doing -- I couldn't handle this without an online shop. This thread was just for reservations.

I'm setting up a shop right now using Shopify -- so far, so good. If I run into trouble, maybe I can trade some stands for some help?

I hope to report back to all people who made a reservation with a link to the shop tonight. After everyone gets their reserved stands ordered, I'll open the shop to the public.

I might be able to make a flat one, but I couldn't reproduce the 3D part of the top of it. This is a cool idea, let me see if I can come up with something.

So I wonder, could you also cut carbon fiber?

This is what I have in mind and it's of course not at all N900 related
The thickness would be of ~2mm.

What do you think?

It also shows me destroying a couple stands. You can see that the acrylic one can be shattered if it is struck very sharply, but it is otherwise very strong.

There's a funny break in the middle of the video, sorry about that.

Back to setting up the store.
OMG Daniel,

My heart missed a beat when you destroyed that beautiful acrylic stand..
the only thing people need to know is to keep their children (if available) and heavy books away, then it will last till eternity...

Wonderful video and clear explanations, thanks !!!

Have a little question (asked before but due to the enormous post it got snowed under i assume).

Will it also work when you have a hard case on the N900.
I assume it does since there seem to be some sliding space still when your phone is on the stand but just wanted to ask.

mscarrot, I'm really sorry, but I made the stand to fit the phone exactly -- any case over the top and it wouldn't fit.

I have to admit, I had a little fun smashing that stand before anyone here even has one...

Carbon fiber is notoriously hard to cut with a laser. :\ It's the right kind of artwork, but the material will be a problem.
