which language are you using? atm new words can be inserted only by phisical keyboard (by "new Word" option), but this improvement is planned for next release.
By the way, it is now possible disable FastWrite input style.
Want me to send in e-books as well?

Why you ask for e-books? Is german dictionary poor? You can send me the file with your customization so i can add it to standard words.

Can you please make a qwerty portrait keyboard and we can have that as an option as i am sure alot of n900 users would like that and their daily usage into a pleasure!

As you are back in developing this nice and extremely useful software, I thought I could suggest something too.
Although the main purpose of FastSMS is for portrait mode, you also have the option of auto-rotate and therefore a landscape mode. I like that idea as it is possible to start writing in portrait and change your mind to use the actual keyboard. Is it possbile to re-design the landscape mode to have much bigger buttons when keyboard is open?
Also i think there is a bug with keyboard use. When I type a letter with keyboard, the cursor stays on left of the last character instead of right. If I have written some characters with virtual keyboard then switch to actual one, all previous characters are erased.

About the bug: i didn't understand what you mean...can you post the exact keyboard sequence? thank you

If i can manage this there will be no problem about using MyContacts or Horizontal-Call.
If my idea is too hard or too much time-expensive, in future in can add a very simple phonebook...

im having issues importing my contacts , have installed horizontal call an even that says that fast sms isnt installed any idea whats going on ??

Just open the FastSMS in landscape mode, slide out the keyboard, and type. Here is the screenshot.
As you can see, whatever I write is written from left to right like arabic, and all words are reversed. Additionally, each word starts with Capital letter.
What I wrote there: You can see that the cursor is reversed and it writes from right to left.
Edit: letter count is also at 1/160
